What is Structural Health Monitoring (SHM)
Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) aims to monitor structural robustness based on data gathered from measuring instruments. The purpose of SHM is to predict unwanted structural behavior under unexpected loads, resulting in the protection of the building’s occupants and other properties located therein.
There are varying types of sensors, each with its own purpose. Each sensor measures structural response at the structural and elemental level. The sensoring plan is very important to achieve reliable results.
